Where is Anguilla?

Anguilla is an oasis for solo travellers, couples, families and business travellers alike. Just off the beaten path, which helps protect its unique character and exclusivity, it’s the northernmost island of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean. It’s about 150 miles east of Puerto Rico and nine miles north of St. Martin and is easily accessible via flights from North America, Latin America and Europe, or by ferry from one of the neighboring islands.

From Puerto Rico

From Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz International Airport in San Juan (SJU), Anguilla is just a one-hour direct flight via Seaborne Airlines, Tradewind Aviation, or by private air charter. Seaborne Airlines has codeshare agreements with Delta Airlines, jetBlue and American Airlines for seamless connections from the Eastern Seaboard of the USA.


From St. Maarten

St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is serviced by most major international carriers from around the world. Visitors can take a seven-minute flight over to the island using Anguilla Air Services or via a private executive charter.

Private Air Charter

From St. Maarten Anguilla is just a seven-minute flight via Anguilla Air Services or private charter. Private air charters are also available to and from Antigua, St. Kitts and from various islands throughout the Caribbean. All persons traveling to and from Anguilla must clear Customs & Immigration at the Airport. The airport departure is US $28 for Adults & Children 12 years and older, US $15 for Children 5-11 years and US $3 for Children 2-4 years. The departure tax must be paid in cash.


Accessing Anguilla By Sea

From St. Maarten/St. Martin to Anguilla  

ST. MARTIN

Marigot Bay (French Side)

The public ferry operates six (6) times daily between St. Martin and Anguilla. From Anguilla the ferry departs at 8:30am, 9:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm and 5:15pm. Ferries depart from St. Martin at 9:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm and 6:00pm. The regular one-way fare is US $30 for person 12 years and older. Children under twelve years old are US $20.

 

FIRST TIME VISITORS:

  • All persons traveling to and from Anguilla by ferry must clear Customs & Immigration at the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.
  • The departure tax of US $28 for adults and children 12 years and older, US $15 for Children 5-11 years and US $3 for children 2-4 years.
  • Advanced reservations for the public ferry are not available.
ST. MAARTEN

Princess Juliana Int’l Airport (Dutch Side)

A number of private companies operate comfortable and professional ferry services from the Anguilla – St. Maarten Ferry Terminal located across from the Princess Juliana Airport. Fares start from US$65 per person, one-way. Schedules are seasonal and operate from St. Maarten to Anguilla between the hours of approximately 9:00am and 5:00pm. From Anguilla to St. Maarten the ferries run from approximately 7:30am to 4:30pm.

FIRST TIME VISITORS:

  • All persons traveling to and from Anguilla by ferry must clear Customs & Immigration at the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.
  • The departure tax of US $36 for Adults and Children 12 years and older, US $23 for Children 5-11 years, US $11 for Chidlren 2-4 years and US $8 for Children 0-1 years. Departure tax can be paid in cash or by credit card.
  • Reservations are advised; most operators offer online schedules and booking platforms. Private charters are also available.
ANYWHERE

Private Boats

All persons traveling to and from Anguilla by private boat or yacht charter must contact and clear Customs & Immigration at Road Bay in Sandy Ground, Anguilla. The assistance of a local yacht agent is required to handle the entry process. Click here for assistance.

FIRST TIME VISITORS:

  • The porters and van drivers who help transfer luggage from airport to ferry and off depend on tips, so it is advisable to have small bills on hand.

Belongers and Residents

Belongers and residents, who have been abroad for more than 72 hours, are allowed purchases and gifts to the value of EC$150 for each adult and EC$75 for each child under eighteen years.

ALL PASSENGERS (INCLUDING VISITORS)

All passengers, aged eighteen and over, claiming exemptions are entitled to import free of duty the following items:

  • Foodstuff to a value of EC$150
  • 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars
  • 1/2lb or 230g of tobacco
  • 1 Litre or 40oz of spirits
  • 1 Litre or 40oz of wine
  • 170ml or 6oz of perfumed spirits
  • 340 ml or 12oz eau de toilette

All passengers, under the age of eighteen, are entitled to import free of duty the following items:
